What is Tattooed Bad Boys?

April 25th 2020 sees an international line up of the hottest current and upcoming romance writers descending on York Racecourse for a repeat of the highly successful 2015 and 2018 events that raised over £3500 for local charities.

Unlike a traditional book signing in a bookshop where you only have one author, this event has attracted over 45 authors from around the world.

Tattooed Bad Boys is the theme for the event and focuses on authors who write hot alpha characters, be they rock stars, bikers, MMA fighters or the rest. Everyone likes to think they can change a bad boy after all, and for the readers attending the event, these are their dream men.

York author Helen Stothard, who writes under the pen name Ava Manello, organised the first event in order to satisfy the demand from readers in the UK who saw events like this happening internationally but had been starved of them over here. It was only supposed to be a one-off, but the response was so overwhelming that she agreed to run it again in 2018 and that event proved so popular both readers and authors set up a petition for one to be run again in 2020.

“I wanted to create something different for the UK readers. The majority of our attending authors are self-published which means that they can’t be found in local bookstores, their paperbacks are only found on Amazon and their eBooks are found on digital platforms such as iBooks, Kindle, Nook, and Kobo. There’s a huge demand to meet these authors and with York being such a beautiful and family-friendly city it seemed the perfect location to bring everyone together.”

The event will be raising money for Macmillan during the day and at the evening party that follows, in memory of Helen’s mum Sue Wells who passed away in February 2018.
